Restoran Soon Soon Heng Bak Kut Teh (顺顺兴肉骨茶) is located directly opposite KSL City Mall's basement exit in Taman Abad and is very easy to find. Soon Soon Heng's claypot bak kut teh (or pork ribs soup) is very popular among Singaporeans and locals alike.
Similar to most bak kut teh restaurants in Johor Bahru, Soon Soon Heng's Teochew-style bak kut teh allows additional ingredients to be boiled with the light-herbal, pig-bone soup. Diners can add pig innards, pig tendons, tofu skins, enoki mushrooms, button mushrooms, pacific clams, etc — charged separately.
Bak kut teh is best consumed when there are more people in a group to go for more dishes. Aside from bak kut teh in the claypot, side dishes such as you tiao (fried dough), braised peanuts, preserved greens, braised tofu, etc, can also be added for a sumptuous meal.
To try the original taste of the pork ribs soup, don't add other ingredients. Do ask for pork ribs only if you don't want any pork belly meat.
