Travelling Food Trails in Malaysia

Do you go hunting for local food when travelling?

One of our travel objectives is to hunt and try local food wherever we go. While there are peak and non-peak seasons for travelling, local food is one thing that is independent of these seasons. And they are usually cheaper than eating in restaurants.

When other travel objectives turned into disappointments, cheap and nice food is always there to comfort us. There is no such thing as a wasted trip if hunting for local food is one of the objectives.

We are always hunting for cheap, local, traditional and "special" food when travelling around West Malaysia. Follow our food trails from Johor to Penang. We hope to include Sarawak and Sabah in East Malaysia soon.

JOHOR (柔佛州)

Johor is the closest Malaysian state to Singapore and is our most frequently visited state, especially Johor Bahru. It is the best place to go for local food hunting on day trips from Singapore.

MALACCA (马六甲)

Malacca is the next frequently visited state after Johor, being just 3 hours drive from Singapore. The best place in Malacca to go for local food is in the old Chinatown area, including Jonker Street, where almost all local delicacies can be found. Melaka Old Town is also a hot bed for cafe hopping.

PERAK (霹雳州)

PENANG (槟城)

How about Kuala Lumpur? Well, we always used the capital city as a transit hub to other Malaysian states and resulted in lesser time there, so we don't have enough tries to write an article yet. We will probably plan a food hunt there in the near future.
