Malacca Eat: Traditional Grandma Wan Tan Mee (传统阿婆云吞面) @ Melaka Old Town

Traditional Grandma Wan Tan Mee (传统阿婆云吞面) is one of the stalls in Heng Huat Coffee Shop (兴发茶室), which is currently housed in Tang House on one side of the Jonker Center Stage along Jonker Street. The coffee shop had moved a couple of times in the last few years — after being ordered to vacate from its old premise by the landlord in 2017 — and settled on its current premise on the other side of the stage.
Regardless of its location, Grandma Wan Tan Mee still serves their traditional wanton noodle in the morning (except Monday and Tuesday) till 1pm.

The wanton noodle (small, RM6) has springy egg noodle in dark sauce with fresh meat dumplings and has retained its old taste. The slices of barbecue pork are of thicker cuts and still tender. The noodle is great for early breakfast when the whole old town is still asleep.

Other than Grandma Wan Tan Mee's wanton noodle, Heng Huat Coffee Shop offers traditional breakfast set with soft-boiled eggs, butter-and-kaya toasts and traditional coffees.
