Malacca Eat: Traditional Ah Ma Wan Tan Mee (传统阿婆云吞面) @ Melaka Old Town

Traditional Ah Ma Wan Tan Mee (传统阿婆云吞面) is one of the stalls in Heng Huat Coffee Shop (兴发茶室), which is housed in Tang House on one side of Jonker Center Stage along Jonker Street. Ah Ma Wan Tan Mee serves their traditional wanton noodle in the early morning — except Monday and Tuesday.

The stall owner is second generation and has acquired her skills from her mother-in-law. The wanton noodle cooked by her is the same as Ah Ma's.

The wanton noodle has springy egg noodle in dark sauce with fresh meat dumplings and has retained its old taste. The slices of barbecue pork are of thicker cuts and still tender. The noodle is great for early breakfast when the old town is still asleep.

Other than Ah Ma Wan Tan Mee's wanton noodle, Heng Huat Coffee Shop offers traditional breakfast set with soft-boiled eggs, butter-kaya toast, garlic butter baguette and traditional coffee.
