Cafe Monochrome is the first 2D cafe in Singapore and located in Chinatown. The cafe has a unique monochrome design that is eye-catching — even though it is mainly white and black.

The walls of the cafe are painted white with objects and details drawn in black. All real objects, including a guitar, faux plants / flowers, tables, chairs, etc, are also painted white with black outlines. The cafe is Instagram- and TikTok-worthy indeed.

Hot beverages are served in black & white cups and iced beverages are in transparent glasses with simple black lines. We have cappuccino, hot chocolate and iced chocolate and they stand out against the monochrome background.

The Yuzu Osmanthus Cake is one of the popular cakes of the cafe. Sandwiched between several layers of fluffy cake are different flavoured cream layers, giving the cake a sharp acidic flavour of yuzu and mellow osmanthus note. We have to taste it to understand why it is so well-liked.

The chef-recommended Mexican-style Loaded Nachos is a full meal rather than a light-bite dish — but we get it to share. Tasty nachos are served with generous amount of ingredients that include guacamole (avocado-based dip), pico de gallo (salsa), minced beef ragu (ground beef with tomato paste) and garlic aioli (cold sauce of garlic, mayonnaise, lemon juice, etc). It is nice eating crispy nachos with 4 different flavours. It is pretty colourful too.

We have a great time in Cafe Monochrome with tasty treats and nice environment. Go on a weekday outside meal times to have quieter moment and for photos.
