San Yuan Gourmet (汕源面家) Noodle House has several outlets in Johor and Malacca. Its Batu Pahat outlet is located at an intersection along Jalan Setia Jaya Utama, not far from AEON BIG Batu Pahat. The restaurant serves a wide range of noodle dishes, such as wanton noodle, minced meat noodle, fishball noodle, traditional laksa, mini wok series, etc, and porridge dishes too.

The dry-style Spice Sour Noodle (酸辣面薄) is served using thin-flat mee pok, not the broader and curlier Singapore-style mee pok, and has softer yet slight chewy texture. The noodle is tossed in a well-balanced sour-spiced sauce (made with homemade chilli and vinegar), not too acidic nor spicy, and added with minced meat, fried meat dumplings, meatballs, fried anchovies and greens. It is delicious and quite hearty.

The Mini Wok Laksa Noodle (迷你叻沙锅面) is served with its ingredients in a hot wok of laksa broth and the noodle in a separate bowl. In the mini wok, there are slices of char siew, fishcake slices, tofu puffs, half a hard-boiled egg, greens, a vegetable ball and fried meat dumplings. The coconut-milk-based laksa is not too thick, flavourful and not spicy (chilli can be added separately). The slim-flat yellow noodle is tossed in a pleasant-tasting dark sauce with oil and added with spring onions. This is one dish but having two different flavours and quite hearty too.

The Fried Cheese Tofu — can select fried or in soup — has aromatic skins and the white tofu has firm texture like fish cake. Pockets of yellow cheese give the tofu some cheesy flavour and savoury taste. This is a tasty side dish to accompany any dishes.

Other than in Batu Pahat, San Yuan Gourmet has an outlet in Permas Jaya too, the nearest branch to Singapore.
