Coconut Market (椰子市场) is a local farmers' market that opens only on weekends in the morning till 2pm only. It is located some 5km to the northeast from Chiang Mai's historical city, in Tambon Fa Ham, at the edge of a coconut plantation.

The little market consists mostly of local food & beverage stalls and non-food stalls selling their crafts, souvenirs, bags, clothings, etc. These stalls are housed under attap huts that give the market a rustic village vibe.

There are also stalls by local farmers to sell their produces such as cocoa, fruits, honey, coffee beans, tea leaves, etc. Items sold at these stalls are usually reasonably priced and are great stuffs to bring home or as gifts.

The stalls formed a rectangular boundary around a small field of coconut trees, which are planted in neat rows with ditches of water covered by green duckweeds. Wooden huts, tables and benches are setup under the coconut trees for visitors to relax or eat their purchases of food. Be careful not to step or slip into the water ditches.

In one corner, a little organic goat farm, named Hamza Farm, has around 20 goats and kids (baby goats are called kids). The young kids are really small in size and very cute.

For ฿50, customers can feed the goats with a small bottle of milk and a bundle of grass. Have some fun feeding the kids with the bottle of milk and the adult goats with grass.

Apart from shopping for local produces, another purpose of visiting Coconut Market is to try local food and snacks here. Coconut Market is probably the best place to find simple Thai food, snacks, desserts and coffee — especially coconut-related snacks and drinks — concentrated in one spot.

Some local delicacies to try are fried quail eggs, kai pam (grilled eggs in banana leaves), khnom krok (coconut-rice pancakes), Thai suki roll, sai oua (pork sausage) and a lot more others. Add-on fresh coconut juice to complete the experience.

A cup of Dirty Coconut espresso, with hot espresso added onto thick coconut milk, is one of the best coffee to try here. This dirty-looking beverage is a great option to have both coffee and coconut in a single cup.

Find a table near the performance area and eat the food while listening to some nice songs by a guitarist, or other performers. Do reward them for their efforts.

Apart from Saturday Night Market along Wua Lai Walking Street and Sunday Night Market in the old city, the smaller-scale Coconut Market is a great spot for breakfast or brunch and to keep several hours on a weekend in Chiang Mai occupied.
