Kee Wah Bakery (奇华饼家) is a famous name in Hong Kong for traditional pastries, a wide range of cookies, egg rolls, wedding cakes, rice cakes (near Chinese New Year), mooncakes (near Mid-Autumn Festival), etc. Many of the products are packed in exquisite packagings as hand-gifts for travellers to bring home.
Kee Wah Bakery has many outlets in nearly all corners of Hong Kong, including in Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and Shun Tak Centre (for departure by ferry to Macau). Its international headquarters and key production site is located in Cheung Sha Wan of Kowloon, Hong Kong. The HKIA outlet in Terminal 1 (Restricted Area) offers a last-minute opportunity for travellers to get some hand-gifts while waiting to board their flights.
The classic Winter Melon Wife Cake (冬蓉老婆饼), with 5 pieces / box, is probably the least-sweet wife cake I have ever tried. It is topped with roasted white sesame seeds which give the wife cake a nice roasty flavours when munched on. Seriously, eating just one piece a time is hardly enough to quell the craving for more of it.
The Coffee Cookies with Cashew (腰果咖啡曲奇), with 12 pieces / box, has a nice coffee aroma with subtle buttery flavour, slight coffee bitterness and mild-sweet. The crushed cashew nuts added more crunchiness to the crunchy cookies.
Kee Wah Bakery has two outlets in Singapore too: one in Jewel Changi and the other in ION Orchard. They offer opportunities to get Kee Wah Bakery's traditional pastries, cookies, mooncakes, etc, without flying to Hong Kong.
