"Block 18 Doggie's Noodle" is a direct translation for the restaurant chain "十八座狗仔粉" and is used in nearly all English publications. In Hong Kong, the restaurant chain is known by its original Chinese name only.
Block 18 Doggie's Noodle is popular for its unique Doggie's Noodle (狗仔粉) that uses short and thick noodles that look like dogs' tails. The dish was created to be a cheap and filling dish for those with tight budgets in the old days. It is another Hong Kong specialty and a recommended street food by Michelin Guide since 2016.
The main outlet of Block 18 Doggie's Noodle is located in Jordan, but it is for take-away only. The nearest branch outlet to Jordan is located along Fa Yuen Street (花园街) in Mong Kok, with an outlet of Kai Kai Dessert (佳佳甜品) just next door.

Aside from Doggie's Noodle, the restaurant's signature roasted duck (火鸭) is another must-try dish, either in whole leg / thigh or added as shedded meat in starchy stew. There is also a list of popular side dishes, such as siew mai, spicy fish ball, fish & meat dumpling, fried meatball, etc, and also platters of mixed ingredients.

The original Signature Doggie’s Noodle (驰名狗仔粉), not added with other ingredients, may seem simple without much ingredients but the short, thick, chewy noodle, topped with chopped spring onions and dried radish, in a light flavourful soup is surprisingly delicious — similar in concept to mee hoon kueh (面粉粿). The portion is a little hearty. Additional ingredients, such as minced dace fish, crispy lard, etc, can be added to enhance the dish.

The Faux Shark’s Fin Soup with Shredded Duck (招牌火鸭翅) look very similar to the snake stew at Snake King Dee (蛇王弟). Instead of snake meat, shredded meat of the restaurant’s signature roasted duck (火鸭) is stewed for over 4 hours in starchy broth with black fungus and transparent short noodle as faux shark’s fin. The rich, savoury stew inherits the wonderful aroma and taste of the roasted duck and not salty. It is also a rather big bowl and delicious.

The Fish & Meat Dumplings (鲜味鱼皮饺), with wrapper skins made using fish meat, have firm and chewy texture. The fresh minced meat fillings have nice flavour and low on saltiness. The various sauces added on the dumplings, such as chilli sauce, sesame paste, etc, have strong flavours and slightly on the saltier side. This dish is must-try too but use the sauce sparingly.

Block 18 Doggie's Noodle's signature roasted duck thigh / leg seem tasty too. I will want to try that on the next visit to Hong Kong.
