Hong Kong Eat: Nathan Cafe (LY 弥敦冰室) @ Yau Ma Tei

Nathan Cafe (LY 弥敦冰室) is a Hong Kong-style tea cafe along Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei. The menus pasted on the restaurant's front showed a wide range of dishes served by the restaurant, including typical Hong Kong dishes, Sichuan mala dishes, Chinese-style dishes, Korean-style stone pot, Western stewed rice, sizzling hotplates, etc.

Only breakfast menus are available before 11:30am. There are ala carte items as well as set menus that paired with milk coffee or milk tea or other beverages as desired with extra charges. Aside from sandwiches, there are noodle dishes with croissant / toast and continental breakfasts too. There are also set meals for lunch and afternoon tea.

Nathan Cafe's milk coffee (香浓咖啡) and silky milk tea (丝袜奶茶) are served in metal cups. Both the coffee and tea, added with evaporated milk, are unsweetened and have rich flavours with mellow and distinct tastes of coffee and tea.

The Ham & Egg Sandwich + Silky Milk Tea (火腿炒蛋三文治 + 丝袜奶茶) is a set meal on the "Sandwich Meals" menu. The sandwich is layered with a piece of picnic ham and Hong Kong-style omelette between lightly-toasted breads. The breads is soft with a light toasty aroma. It makes a simple breakfast.

The Satay Beef with Instant Noodle Soup + Ham & Cheese Croissant + Hong Kong-style coffee (招牌沙爹牛肉公仔面 + 芝士火腿牛角酥 + 香浓咖啡) is a set item on the "Refreshing Breakfast" menu. The noodle dish is of a reasonable portion when paired with the ham and cheese croissant and not too hearty. The croissant is toasted till crispy with a buttery aroma.

The cafe’s signature Satay Beef, topped with corn kernels, is smooth, very tender and with rich satay flavours. The satay sauce also added its flavours to the curly, springy instant noodle — "公仔面" is a longstanding brand of instant noodles in Hong Kong. This beef noodle dish is delicious.
