Kadorar et Levain Bakery (加多娜天然酵母手作面包店) is a Hong Kong bakery that combines the local favourite, Kadorar Bakery, with French-style artisanal bread from Levain Bakery. It is known for its premium sourdough made with 100% levain and has become famous for their Kadorar French Pudding Bun, a sweet and popular local treat.


While there are other outlets of Kadorar Bakery and Levain Bakery around Hong Kong, Kadorar et Levain Bakery has just one outlet and located in Yau Ma Tei, very near to the Cityview Hotel.

The bakery has a wide range of high-quality artisanal breads and pastries on their shelves. Some are of their own creations with unique flavours. Besides being visually-appealing, they look tasty too. Some of their popular signature items are rolled out in batches: 11:30am for Pistachio Sticky Rice Pancake and 4:30pm for their famous French Pudding Bun and Matcha Red Bean Mochi Bun.

The hot-selling Pistachio Sticky Rice Pancake (开心果烧饼), available after 11:30am, has rich pistachio and more flavours from crunchy, minced nuts in sweet pistachio paste enclosed in baked glutinous rice skin. It is delicious indeed with chewy texture of the mochi skin and nice pistachio flavours. Seriously, don't miss it if have the chance.

The Chocolate & Walnut Soft Cookie (核桃朱古力软奇曲) has chocolate and crunchy walnuts in soft crumbly cookie. It has a chocolaty flavour with just-nice sweetness.

The Sweet Potato Bun (紫薯包) has rich purple sweet potato paste with soft white mochi as its filling. The bun is mildly sweet, with nice flavours and multiple textures.


The Seaweed Sea-Salt Croissant (星野海苔盐可頌) has tiny bits of seaweed throughout the whole bun giving it a mellow seaweed flavour. The savoury bun, from some sea-salt, is nice to chew on and not salty.


The Matcha Sticky Rice Pancake with Red Bean (抹茶豆沙烧饼) gives off a light hint of matcha flavour in the skin when munched and the richer flavour of red bean paste filling soon dominates. It is similar in texture to the Pistachio Sticky Rice Pancake without crunchy nuts.

Kadorar et Levain Bakery's pastries have sweetness levels that are just-nice, some even lower, and they are really nice! I hope to find an opportunity to go for their French Pudding Bun (at 4:30pm).
