Kedai Makanan Yong He (永和粿条) is one of my favourite spots for delicious kway teow soup, especially for breakfast while waiting for KSL City Mall to open at 10am. Located a short walking distance from KSL City Mall and right next to Yit Foh Wanton Noodle, Yong He is another great place for cheap and good local food.

Yong He's signature kway teow soups are available in several sizes: small, medium and large. It may not be obvious on the menu but there is also an extra-large size. Apart from kway teow (flat rice noodle), other types of noodle, such as lou shu fen (老鼠粉 / silver needle noodle), bee hoon, mee pok, handmade noodle, etc, are also available.

Yong He (永和粿条): Menu

Yong He's kway teow soup comes with a wide variety of fresh ingredients. The small-size noodle soup contains a fish ball, a meat ball, slices of pig liver, minced pork, lean pork slices, veggies and topped with fried shallots, chopped spring onions and crispy fried pork lard. The soup, used to boil the ingredients, is flavourful. This is one of my favourite kway teow soup.

The medium or larger sizes of noodle dishes will have additional ingredients, such as faux abalone, prawns, oysters, fish dumpling, abalone clams, pig kidney, etc, depending on the prices. The ingredients may vary due to seasonal availability and price hikes.

Yong He also serves dry-style dishes with minced meat and dark sauce on desired noodle. Other ingredients are placed in a separate bowl of soup. I have always favoured kway teow in soup and did not expect the dry-version kway teow to be flavourful in another way.

It is hard for me to decide whether to go for the soup- or dry-version whenever I visit Yong He — so, I alternate and with different types of noodle. 😉
