Munchi Pancakes has many outlets across Singapore — mostly on the east side — and 2 new outlets were opened in Bukit Batok recently: one in Bukit Batok West Hawker Centre in April 2025 and a kiosk in West Mall in May 2025. The popular brand serves traditional min jiang kueh (曼煎粿), or apam balik, and their novel pancakes (called Munchi pancake and mini Munchi) with different combinations of flavours.

For all pancakes, there is a selection of original, charcoal or green tea flavours for the skin. As for the fillings for min jiang kueh, there are about 7 types but may not be applicable for all skin flavours — Munchi may have tried all combinations and offer only the better tasting ones.
The Original Sesame min jiang kueh has original skin with black sesame paste as its filling. The pancake has surprisingly nice and rich flavours, mildly sweet rather than the bitterness of pure black sesame. This is delicious.

The Charcoal Coconut min jiang kueh has black charcoal skin with grated coconut filling. The charcoal skin has varying textures, firm and chewier outer to soft inside, no strong taste but a mellow charcoal aroma. The grated coconut, sweetened with brown sugar, is not too sweet and is the main source of flavours of the pancake. This is special and I will want to try more of the charcoal skin with other fillings.

The Green Tea Red Bean min jiang kueh has green tea skin with red bean paste filling. It has a more distinct flavour of green tea and rich red bean taste. Similarly, it is not too sweet. Other than red bean paste with green tea skin (a popular combination), the only other filling is peanut.

The Munchi pancake with custard is a new flavour of Munchi Pancakes — a tongue twister here. Unlike traditional min jiang kueh that is made in larger size, fold and cut into smaller pieces before serving, Munchi pancake is around palm-size with sealed edge. The (original) skin is thinner and lightly baked in a waffle-like maker. The custard pancake is served a little chilled and has a custard with just-nice sweetness and well-balanced flavours, not too eggy nor milky. This dessert is cool and really nice.

I have tried all the different skins for the traditional min jiang kueh with some of the different fillings and also the newest custard flavour so far. Will try more of Munchi Pancakes's novel pancakes with different fillings.
