Pontian Wanton Noodles (笨珍云吞面) has several outlets throughout Singapore and one of them is located in Mei De Coffeeshop (美德咖啡店) in Bukit Batok East. The stall serves its signature Pontian wanton noodle, of over 60 years, in dry-style or with soup. Set-meal options with side dishes are also available.

Pontian-style wanton noodle differs from Singapore-style wanton noodle in three primary aspects: 1) handmade egg noodle, 2) thinly-sliced char siew that is boiled rather than barbecued and 3) tomato-based sauce. Wanton noodles in Pontian do use other sauces too in addition to the Pontian-version with tomato-based sauce.

The stall's Pontian-style Wanton Noodle (云吞面) uses thin egg noodle that is thicker and crunchier and dry-tossed in tomato-based sauce without surplus. The noodle is added with thin slices of char siew, two fried meat dumplings, greens and two meat dumplings separately in a bowl of soup. The mild-sweet char siew is succulent and the meat dumplings have nice savoury flavours. The tomato-based sauce has a nice flavour, without the acidity as expected of ketchup. The dish is nice indeed.

The wanton noodle with black sauce and chilli is also added with fried pork lard and fragrant lard oil. This is tasty too.

Aside from wanton noodle, Pontian Wanton Noodles also serves other noodle dishes, such as cheesy chicken cutlet noodle and prawn dumplings noodle.
