Batam Cafe: Ta.ti.do Coffee Roasters

Ta.ti.do Coffee Roasters is housed in a standalone 2-storey building across a road (Jalan Bunga Raya) from Batam City Square Mall. The name of the cafe sounds the same as the Malay words "ta tido" which means "not sleeping" — the after-effect of drinking coffee.

The cafe has simplistic and minimalist decorations and is rather spacious. Apart from the few "tables" arranged on a stepped platform in front of the bar counter, there are more tables on the second floor. The roastery to grind and roast coffee beans is located in a small room near the counter.

The cafe also serves a variety of mille crepes at around 50K rupiah each. There are sea-salted caramel flavour, Oreo, chocolate, ondeh-ondeh, etc.

There are other delicious-looking pastries too.

We were at Ta.ti.do on a Saturday afternoon and ordered a Green Monster, a Sinful Chocolate smoothie, a butter croissant, a cheese croissant, an ondeh-ondeh mille crepe and two hot pourover coffees.

For the pourover coffees, we tried the HSN 22 Semendo with fruity (Thai mango, lychee, guava or mandarin orange) tastes and the Rosa te El Paraiso with rose tea or gummy candy aromas. It was interesting to try to identify the scents of the coffees.

And the ondeh-ondeh mille crepe is really nice and not too sweet.

We would have tried all the mille crepes if not for the heavy seafood lunch that we had prior to visiting the cafe.
