The flagship outlet of Cheung Hing Kee Shanghai Pan-fried Buns (祥兴记上海生煎包) is located along Lock Road (乐路) near Tsim Sha Shui MTR Station (Exit A1), diagonally opposite Prince Noodles (王子牛腩牛杂粉面专家). The takeaway-only shop is in the Hong Kong Michelin Guide for their Shanghai pan-fried buns and Shanghai-style noodle dishes.

There are five flavours of pan-fried buns: signature (招牌), shrimp (鲜虾), spicy & numbing (麻辣), black truffle (黑松露) and crab roe (黄金蟹粉). Each flavour of pan-fried bun is sold either in 2 or 4 pieces, or mixes of at least 2 the 5 available types with 2 pieces per type. All pan-fried buns are freshly handmade daily and on site.

In addition to pan-fried buns, there is a list of Chinese- / Shanghai-style noodle dishes, Chinese dumplings, side dishes, snacks and beverages.

Cheung Hing Kee Shanghai Pan-Fried Buns (祥兴记上海生煎包): Menu

The Signature Buns + Spicy & Numbing Buns (招牌+麻辣) combo has 2 Signature Pan-Fried Buns (招牌生煎包) and 2 Pan Fried Buns with Spicy & Numbing (麻辣生煎包).

The signature buns are topped with black and white sesame seeds with fresh spring onions and the spicy & numbing buns are with mala chilli toppings. The buns, with crispy fried bottoms, are filled with fresh minced pork and tasty broth — the hot broth can gush out on biting if a hole is not made on the skin prior to eating. The pan-fried buns are tasty and delicious and the mala buns have additional spicy-numbing flavours. They are yummy!

Cheung Hing Kee has 5 flavours of Shanghai pan-fried buns and there are 3 remaining types to try — including the premium truffle and crab roe flavours. I hope there are opportunities to try more of the buns and the Shanghai noodle dishes too.
