Kam Wah Cafe & Bakery (金华冰厅) is a Hong Kong-style tea cafe (茶餐厅) located in Mong Kok and occupying two units close to one another in the same row of shops. The cafe is well-known for its pineapple polo bun and egg tart.

On Kam Wah Cafe's menu, there are couple of dishes under the "捞丁" category, which is an acronym for "干捞《出前一丁》" or "dry-tossed instant noodle" where《出前一丁》is the brand of the local-made instant noodle. Under another category, the name of another brand of instant noodle《公仔面》is used. Hong Kong people seem rather particular about the brand of instant noodle to eat.
Aside from typical servings of buns, toasts, sandwiches and instant noodle dishes by Hong Kong tea cafe for breakfast, Kam Wah Cafe has a series of main dishes that include Singapore-style fried vermicelli, beef noodle, fried noodle / rice dishes, etc.

Kam Wah Coffee (金华咖啡) is unsweetened milk coffee and the Hong Kong-style Yuen Yeung (港式鸳鸯) is unsweetened milk tea added with coffee. The hot beverages are added with evaporated milk and carries rich and milky aroma. Adding of sugar is self-service — we skipped it.

The Pineapple Bun with Butter (菠萝油) is slightly bigger than expected. It has a crispy egg top — that looks like the skin of pineapple but there is no pineapple in the bun — and the bun is soft but quite dense. The butter adds a nice aroma and savoury taste to the mild-sweet bun. The sweet-savoury bun is indeed nice.

The Egg Sandwich (鸡蛋三文治) is quite big too. The thick white breads are soft and fluffy with a thick Hong Kong-style omelette — typically sweeten by adding evaporated milk to the egg during frying — that is nicely done, soft and tasty.

Aside from going for breakfast at Kam Wah Cafe, its main dishes seem great to try too.
