Lan Fong Yuen (兰芳园), an iconic Hong Kong tea cafe (港式茶餐厅) established since 1952, is more than 70 years old and famous for its Pantyhose Milk Tea (丝袜奶茶) — using a pantyhose-like cloth to strain their milk tea, giving it a silky smooth texture. The main cafe is located along Gage Street (结志街) and right beside the Central Mid-Levels Escalators, making it very easy to get to. It has another branch in Tsim Sha Shui.

The old tea cafe is not very big with limited number of tables so it gets really crowded during peak hours. The cafe's pantyhose milk tea is definitely a must-try with toasts, buns, including pineapple polo bun and pork chop bun, or any of the noodle / rice dishes.

The Pantyhose Milk Tea (丝袜奶茶) is really smooth with a nice and unique flavour — even without sugar. The secret-recipe Yuan Yang (秘制鸳鸯), with a mix of coffee and milk tea, is similarly smooth too.
The recommended Chicken Wing + Spiced Pork Cubes + Fried Egg Dry Instant Noodle (心多多捞丁) uses dry-tossed instant noodle, of the brand "出前一丁", and added with fresh veggies. The chicken wings are well-fried, still-hot and tender with light crispy skin. The springy noodle is nicely flavoured by the spiced pork cubes and lava egg yolk of the fried sunny-side-up egg. This is undoubtedly delicious.

The Laksa Chicken Wings with Rice Vermicelli (喇沙鸡中翅米粉) is served with slim rice vermicelli in laksa broth and added with similar fried chicken wings and fresh veggies. The laksa broth is light tasting — not as thick as Nanyang laksa — with mellow coconut milk flavour, mildly-spicy and non-oily. It is a pleasant dish with fried chicken wings — the Hong Kong way.

Unknown to many, Hong Kong-style fried chicken wings added to Hong Kong noodle is another Hong Kong specialty dish offered in many tea cafes and Lan Fong Yuen is one cafe to go for it, on top of pineapple bun and silky-smooth milk tea.
