Kau Kee Beef Brisket (九记牛腩), established since the 1930s, is a well-known Hong Kong eatery celebrated for its delicious, tender beef brisket noodles, a staple of Cantonese cuisine. Located in Central, the Michelin-recommended restaurant is a must-visit destination for many food lovers, despite its simple and often crowded setting.

Diners can choose between different beef cuts, like brisket, lean / fat beef or tendon, and various noodle types, and other options including clear / curry broth, dry / soup, etc. Kau Kee's curry beef tendon noodle and beef brisket kway teow soup are popular choices. Minimum expenses per dine-in customer is HK$70.

The Beef Brisket Kway Teow Soup (上汤牛腩河粉) is served with long-stewed beef brisket in a light, mildly sweet, and flavourful broth with scallion and coriander. The beef brisket is a mix of both lean and fat meat and very succulent. Paired with smooth hor fun (slimmer than kway teow), this dish is delicious indeed and worth the long wait.

Expect Kau Kee to be crowded even on weekdays outside peak travel seasons and sharing of tables is common. The restaurant accepts payment by WeChat Pay HK and cash in HK$ only.
