Xiang Mei Roasted Meat & Chicken Rice (香美烧腊.鸡饭) specialises in charcoal-grilled roasted delights and herbal roasted duck. Began in Bencoolen Street in the 1920s, Xiang Mei currently has two outlets in Bukit Batok: one in Bukit Batok Central and a newer one nearer to Bukit Gombak MRT Station.
The outlet in Bukit Batok Central is located in S11 Bukit Batok Food House, near Bukit Batok MRT Station. The stall serves mainly rice dishes with steamed chicken, herbal roasted duck, char siew (barbecue pork), roasted pork or soya sauce chicken.

The Char Siew & Roasted Duck Rice (叉烧烧鸭饭) is a hearty dish with barbecued pork slices and chunky roasted duck meat. The old-style barbecue pork is unlike those red-sauce char siew used in wanton noodle and is ultra-tender and melts in the mouth — albeit exaggerated, but the idea is there. The five spices (herbal) roasted duck is tender and nice too.

A big bowl of soup will usually accompany any of the dishes when dining in. The soup is boiled with meat — using parts such as duck necks, chicken wings, etc — and pickled Chinese mustard giving it a delightful flavour. The extra meat is edible if you like to.

Other than rice dishes, larger portion or mix platter of all types of meat are available too. The prices (as of 26 Jan 2025) are as shown in the platter menu below.

A platter of barbecue pork and roasted pork, for 4 pax, is a great dish for gatherings — such as family dinner. Apart from the ultra-tender and delicious barbecue pork, the roasted pork has crispy salted skin and tender meat — the saltiness is mainly on the skin. The pork belly meat does not taste fatty nor oily at all.

Xiang Mei's roasted delights are tender and delicious. Expect a queue regardless of weekdays or weekend.
