XiangYu Pan-Fried Bun (香遇生煎包) setups a new branch in the newly-opened Bukit Batok West Hawker Centre — its main stall is located in Jurong West Hawker Centre (JW50). The Chinese food stall serves pork and prawn pan-fried buns (生煎包), wantons (云吞或抄手), dumplings (水饺), xiao long bao (小笼包) and several noodle dishes, including spiced beef noodle (五香牛肉面), minced meat noodle (炸酱面), etc.

The Pan-Fried Pork Buns (鲜肉生煎包, 3 pieces/set) are topped with spring onions and pan-fried till crispy at the bottoms. The fresh meat, in dark sauce, and savoury soup has nice aroma and tasty with nice crunchiness from the crispy fried bottom.
The Pan-Fried Prawn Buns (鲜虾生煎包, 3 pieces/set) are similarly fried at the bottoms like the pork buns but are topped with fried sesame seeds. The buns are filled with crunchy fresh prawns and fresh pork and no dark sauce. The prawn buns, with savoury soup that has distinct prawn flavour, are also tasty and delicious.
Before eating, poke a hole on each bun and suck out the hot soup (slowly) to prevent it from squirting out on biting and waste the delicious soup. Pair the buns with crispy chilli or ginger in vinegar to further enhance their flavours.

The Spiced Beef Noodle (五香牛肉面) is served with large slices of beef shank and greens on thin handmade noodle in flavourful stock that is prepared with spices. Supposedly a spicy dish, it is not too spicy and the spiciness enhances the flavours of the dish without making it too strong-tasting. The noodle breaks easily on each bite and non-chewy. The generous amount of tender beef meat and noodle made this a rather filling dish — I finished the stock too.

The dry-style Prawn Wanton in Chilli Oil with Noodles (鲜虾抄手拌面) has 4 pieces of prawn wantons on thin handmade noodle, added with red chilli oil and vinegar sauce, and garnished with fried garlic bits and spring onions. The sauce is well-concocted with nice sourish-spicy-savoury flavours and also smoothen the wantons and noodle. The wantons, with succulent prawn and minced pork fillings, are tasty and delicious. This dish is tasty with nice flavours, yet not too strong-tasting. The dish is also available with minced pork wantons.

XiangYu's pan-fried pork / prawn buns are really delicious and must try. And so are the other dishes too.
