Tangkak Eat: Original Tangkak Beef / Restoran Kuang Fei (东甲牛腩面)

Restoran Kuang Fei (东甲牛腩面) in Tangkak Town, Johor, is the original outlet of a chain of restaurants under the Tangkak Beef brand that serves the famous Tangkak beef noodle — I have visited two of its branches in Kluang Town and Johor Bahru (Taman Sentosa branch).

Unlike its branches that serves various options for beef dishes and others, Kuang Fei serves only beef brisket noodle. There is a choice of noodle (yellow mee, mee hoon or kway teow) and whether normal or large portion (with more noodle) or with add-on ingredients.

The Beef Brisket Noodle (牛腩面) — with kway teow and add-on beef ingredients — is served with chunky pieces of beef brisket, tendons, slices of cow stomach and tripes in clear soup with small amount of spring onions, coriander and fried shallots as garnishes. The broth, boiled with cow bones, is flavourful and tasty as usual with succulent beef brisket, crunchy stomach and tripe slices and the tendons are bouncy with soft crunchiness. The dish is very delicious — as expected from the original restaurant.

When visiting Tangkak Town, to the far northwest of Johor, it is definitely a must to eat at Restoran Kuang Fei for beef noodle lovers. Otherwise, the outlet at Taman Sentosa, Johor Bahru, is the nearest to Singapore and with more options.
