Maxims Snack Shoppe (大胡子面包小食) is located along Jalan Besar, a trunk road, in Yong Peng Town of Batu Pahat District. The traditional coffee shop serves charcoal-grilled toasts and local snacks, such as curry puffs, wide range of Nyonya kuih, egg tarts, etc.

The coffee shop has an olden-day vibe. While beverages, toasts and "Daily Special" cooked food need to be ordered and pay at the cashier, all other snacks are self-service from couple of glass shelves and pay before consumption. The slices of bread used for Maxims Snack Shoppe's roti bakar are thick and fluffy.

The charcoal-grilled traditional toast (roti bakar) is toasted on both sides of the thick bread before being sliced and applied with kaya and butter while still hot. The partially-melted butter mixed with the kaya when served. The toast is light-crispy outside, still-soft and fluffy inside with a nice grilled aroma. The amount of kaya is just right without making the toasts overly sweet. This is definitely a must on every visit.

Maxims Snack Shoppe's kopi-O kosong has nice aroma and non-bitter. The curry puff is big with crispy skin and mild-spicy curry potatoes filling. I have tried their kuih kosui, kuih seri muka, cassava kuih and other Nyonya kuih.
The small pack of nasi lemak is special. The rice, aside from being flavoured with coconut milk, is also flavoured with blue butterfly pea flower extract. Other typical ingredients are peanuts, fried ikan bilis, cucumber, half a hard-boiled egg and special chilli. This nasi lemak is nice and unique.

Aside from breads and traditional snacks, Maxims Snack Shoppe also served cooked dishes for lunch — check their daily menu for that special dishes of the day.
