The 1950's Coffee (五十年代) is a traditional coffee stall located in Chinatown Complex in Chinatown of Singapore. The little stall, recommended by Michelin Guide since 2016, serves traditional Nanyang coffee and breakfast sets with toasts. Their toasts sell out fast and usually gone by mid day.

The coffee stall's charcoal-grilled toasts usually run out fast even on weekdays. Only early birds get to eat their traditional breakfast set. The black kopi-O is thick and has a nice traditional kopi aroma. The soft-boiled eggs are nicely done without a trace of being overcooked or with still-raw egg white. The timing is perfect!

The nicely charcoal-grilled toasts are spread with kaya (coconut jam) and a thick slice of butter. The kaya is applied sparingly so the toasts are not too sweet. And the thick butter makes each bite so creamy and savoury. The nostalgic taste of charcoal-grilled traditional toasts are getting harder to find in Singapore these days.

Other than their traditional toast, the peanut butter thick toast with ultra-soft bread is nice too. The bread is lightly-toasted to keep its softness and spread with thick peanut butter. Similarly, the peanut thick toast sold out fast too.

The 1950's Coffee has another stall in Maxwell Food Centre, just across a road. If the queue at the main stall is long or the toasts run out, the other outlet is not far away.
