Ann Chin (安珍), established since 1958, is located in the food centre of Chinatown Complex, on the 2nd level, among over 200 food stalls. The stall is well-known for its handmade popiah (手工薄饼), or spring rolls, and other snacks, such as kueh pie tee (娘惹杯饼) and fried spring rolls with vegetable, yam or curry.

Ann Chin's popiah is made on order with generous amount of ingredients.

The spring roll is sufficiently dripped-dry and the thin wheat-flour wrapper is not soggy at all after a few minutes. It looks good!

The popiah has crunchy textures from most of its ingredients. Apart from the usual cooked turnip strips and beansprouts, there are lettuce, eggs, crushed peanuts and crispy bits of fried flour. The natural sweetness of the turnips is just nice and flavoured the entire spring roll. And one thing notable — or rather, I did not notice — is the absence of thick wrapper that usually made spring rolls too chewy. This is definitely a must-try.

Ann Chin's popiah is great for a light meal or as snack after meals.
