Singapore Eat: Come Daily Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee (天天来炒福建虾面)

After a 13Km long hike at MacRitchie Reservoir with three colleagues, we came to Toa Payoh West Market & Food Centre hoping to try all the three Michelin-recommended stalls here. But, it was already 2pm when we arrived and most of the stalls were either closed or closing. Fortunately, Come Daily was still opened for business.

We ordered Come Daily's signature fried Hokkien prawn mee at $5 each (the $4 option was struck off the menu). They offered another option for 3-4 pax at $18 with much more ingredients but the noodle portion seems smaller.

When the fried Hokkien prawn mee arrived, I noted that the dish was wet-styled and used more rice vermicelli than the egg noodle. Apart from the typical prawns, slices of squid, eggs and beansprouts, crispy pork cracklings (fried pork lards) were added instead of small strips of pork.

Topped with lime and sambal chilli, stirred thoroughly and it was ready to eat. The noodles were not soggy despite the wetter sauce and had retained their textures. With the tasty pork cracklings, it tasted really good.
