iBread is a bakery chain that has several branches throughout Singapore. The Bukit Timah outlet is located on the ground floor of Beauty World Centre, right opposite Victory Thai Boat Noodle.
iBread has a long range of freshly-baked confectionery items to offer, including buns, pastries, cakes and cookies. It has a wide selection of traditional pastries and customers are spoilt for choice.
Standing outside the bakery, it is common to hear some shoppers recommending iBread’s egg tarts to their friends, so it is a top choice to go for. iBread has two variants of egg tarts: Portuguese Egg Tart (葡式蛋挞) and French-style Croissant Egg Tart (法式可颂蛋挞).
The Portuguese Egg Tart is pretty thick. The custard is creamy and milky in buttery shortcrust instead of flaky pastry puff. It has a well-balanced taste that is neither too milky nor too sweet. The French-style Egg Tart in flaky croissant crust. The egg tart is slightly larger than the Portuguese egg tart and with the same custard. Both are very nice indeed.
The Cranberry Sourdough is one of my favourites at iBread — I have bought it many times. As a sourdough, it is not very tough and has a nice texture with fruity cranberry and crunchy walnut.
The newly rolled-out Taro Snowy Cake (芋泥雪贝) consists of smoothy taro and chewy mochi sandwiched between two pieces of soft sponge cakes. It is mildly sweet with taro flavour and has mixed textures.
The Coffee Croissant is similar to a coffee bun except that the coffee-flavoured cookie crust is on a croissant. The pastry has a nice buttery aroma and is surprisingly not too sweet. This is a nice try too.
Other confectionery that I have tried include wholemeal buns, pandan buns, multi-grain buns, hand-torn bread, various Swiss rolls, etc.
iBread has a lot of confectionery items to pick from and it is interesting to try something different on each visit.
