Shi Mei Hainanese Chicken Rice (实美芽菜鸡饭) is a coffee shop stall that is popular for its Hainanese chicken rice and other dishes with roasted delights. It has several stalls around Singapore with the main stall located in Sin Huat Lee Restaurant (新发利美食中心), a coffee shop near Bukit Gombak MRT Station. Two of its branches are also in Bukit Batok: one in Block 324 Chang Cheng Mee Wah Coffeeshop (长城美华咖啡店) and a new stall in Block 233 Kimly Coffeeshop (金味) in Bukit Batok East.

Aside from Shi Mei's signature Hainanese steamed chicken rice, there are also roasted chicken / lemon chicken / sesame chicken / smoke duck / char siew / roasted pork with rice. Side dishes such as crystal chicken feet, poached vegetable, braised egg, chicken offals, etc.

Sin Huat Lee Restaurant | The Hainanese Chicken Rice (白鸡饭) is served with the steamed chicken meat, at room temperature, neatly laid on beansprouts and dribbled with savoury oyster sauce. The chicken-stock-flavoured rice carries a nice fragrance and smooth flavour. The steamed chicken has smooth skin and ultra-tender meat with no fats under the skin. It is delicious indeed.

233 Kimly Coffeeshop | The Char Siew & Roasted Pork Rice (叉烧烧肉饭) is served with roasted pork and slightly thicker cuts of char siew on white rice and dribbled with some braised sauce. The roasted pork has crispy skin and is not too fat. The barbecue pork is tender and juicy with some crispiness on the outer surface. These roasted meats are nice.

Sin Huat Lee Restaurant | The Lemon Chicken Rice is served with chicken-stock-flavoured rice and fried chicken dribbled with a lemony sauce that is nicely-made without being too citrusy nor sweet. The lemon chicken is tender and well-fried with crispy skin. I added-on a serving of its tender and crispy char siew again to make a tasty, hearty meal.

Shi Mei's Hainanese chicken rice, lemon chicken and roasted delights are nicely-done and delicious. I will want to try their sesame chicken and smoke duck rice too.
