Mee Downstairs (楼下见面) is a new noodle house located along the Glutton Street of Batu Pahat, not far from Batu Pahat Bus Terminal. The noodle house serves Hakka yong tau foo with noodle and a list of other noodle dishes, such as fried wanton noodle, minced meat noodle dumpling noodle, meatball noodle, etc.

The little setup serves more than just noodles and yong tau foo, there are also homemade bagels, various flavours of polo buns, egg tarts, toasts, etc, and traditional coffee and tea.

The signature Stuffed Tofu Puff Mee (酿豆腐面) is served with dry noodle tossed in dark sauce and topped with minced meat and greens. The yong tau foo are served separately in a bowl of soup. The noodle has a nice crunchiness with pleasant-tasting sauce.

The dish comes with 3 types of yong tau foo — fried stuffed tofu, fried bean sticks and fried tofu puff — and I added a serving of stuffed eggplant. The yong tau foo are fresh and not salty.

Mee Downstairs is a nice place to go for noodles and handmade confections, I will want to try their different flavours of polo buns on next visit.
