Kota Tinggi District sits on the eastern side of Johor and encompasses the beach resort town of Desaru. The capital town of Kota Tinggi District is Kota Tinggi Town and is just 45Km from JB CIQ. Getting to the town from Johor Bahru is easy using public buses.

There is only one public bus service operating between Johor Bahru and Kota Tinggi Town — i.e myBAS T10 operated by Causeway Link. The service will embark at the bus terminal below JB Sentral, make a brief stop at Larkin Sentral and end at Kota Tinggi Bus Terminal. On the return trip, the service will start from Kota Tinggi Bus Terminal, stop briefly at Larkin Sentral before continuing and ending at JB Sentral.

Note that myBAS T10 will pass by Tebrau City, around 25 minutes from Larkin Sentral, and is an alternative service to get to the shopping malls in the area.

For travellers from Singapore, it will be easier to get to Kota Tinggi Town via Woodlands Checkpoint. There are two ways to get onboard the myBAS Service T10.

1. Via JB Sentral

First of all, get to JB Sentral from Singapore: JB Bus Guide: Singapore to JB Checkpoint, JB Sentral & JB City Square.

At JB Sentral Bus Bay 11, take myBAS T10 to Larkin Sentral, followed by Kota Tinggi. The service has a frequency of 25 minutes. The fare is RM5.30.

2. Via Larkin Sentral

First, get to Larkin Sentral from Singapore: JB Bus Guide: Singapore to Larkin Sentral in Johor Bahru.

Wait for myBAS T10 at the middle of Platform A in Larkin Sentral — there is no assigned bus bay for touch-and-go services. Make sure to board a Service T10 that is bounded for Kota Tinggi. The destination will be displayed in front of the bus. The fare to Kota Tinggi is RM4.50.

Kota Tinggi Bus Terminal

Kota Tinggi Bus Terminal is also known as Sri Lanang Bus & Taxi Terminal. There are several domestic bus services to different parts of Kota Tinggi District. Bas Muafakat Johor Service PE004 plies the route between the terminal and Bandar Penawar Bus Terminal in Desaru but it is for Malaysia citizens only. For non-Malaysians, getting to Desaru will be to use taxis / Grab cars / self-drive.

Taxis also operate from the bus terminal with fix prices to a long list of destinations according to a pricing board. Ticketing counters for long-distance buses to Mersing or beyond the state of Johor are located on level 2.
