JB Eat: Oh Yeah Noodle House (欧爷面馆) Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee @ Pelangi

Oh Yeah Noodle House (欧爷面馆) is a relatively-new setup of 2 years in Taman Maju Jaya, very near Plaza Pelangi. The restaurant serves a number of Penang delicacies and other Malaysian local dishes.

Oh Yeah Noodle House (欧爷面馆)

Oh Yeah Noodle House’s signature noodle dishes are Penang Hokkien prawn mee (槟城福建虾面) and its variants with big prawns and pork ribs. There are Penang loh mee (槟城卤面), Penang white curry mee (槟城白咖喱面) and also the newly-added Penang char kway teow (槟城炒粿条), which is available on Friday to Sunday only. Other local noodle dishes and traditional Hainanese breakfast (kopi, toasts and soft-boiled eggs) are available too.

Oh Yeah Noodle House (欧爷面馆): Menu

The signature Penang Hokkien Mee with Pork Ribs, as its name implies, is Penang Hokkien mee added with pork ribs. The Penang Hokkien mee alone uses yellow noodle and rice vermicelli in sweet-savoury and spicy prawn broth and topped with a number of small prawns, thin slices of pork, fish cake slices, beansprouts, half a braised egg and fried shallots. The pork ribs are super-tender, delicious and separate from the bones easily. Best of all, the broth is so tasty and unable to stop drinking it until the last drop is in the stomach.

The Penang loh mee is served with thick yellow noodle in thick eggy broth and topped with thin slices of pork, fish cake slices, half a braised egg and fried shallots. The viscous dark broth, added with a some vinegar and white pepper, is the main essence of the noodle dish. This is another great dish to go for.

Similarly, Oh Yeah's loh mee can be added with either pork ribs or big prawns. The Penang Loh Mee with Pork Ribs (槟城排骨卤面) is loh mee added with the ultra-tender pork ribs.

There are still quite a number of noodle dishes, including Penang char kway teow, to try at Oh Yeah Noodle House. I will be back for more.
