Okid Barbecue House (褔記兰花霸王鸭) is well-known among locals for its roasted duck. Located in Permas Jaya, Masai, the restaurant can be fully-packed during lunch time even on weekdays.
Aside from their signature herbal roasted duck, Okid Barbecue House has other roasted delights such as roasted chicken, roasted pork, barbecue pork and pork ribs, barbecue intestines and also "cold-broiled" kampung chicken (甘榜光颈鸡). There are other cooked dishes as well. For single-diners, noodle / rice dishes with the roasted delights are available.
The Herbal Roasted Duck (当归烧鸭) — we have lower quarter with drumstick — has crispy skin with nice aroma. The meat is tender and juicy with mellow herbal flavours. It is delicious indeed.
The small platter of Roasted Pork + Barbecue Pork (脆皮烧肉+蜜汁叉烧) is the best way to go for the two types of pork delights. The roasted pork has crispy skin, tender meat and not salty. The thick cuts of barbecue pork are sweet with tender meat and some crispiness from the light-charred surface.
The Braised Bitter Gourd with Fish Meat (豉汁苦瓜焖鱼肉) is cooked using meaty cuts of fish meat and bitter gourd with fermented black soybeans and other condiments. It has a nice flavour, not bitter and not salty.
The Signature Manis Plant (马尼菜炒蛋) uses sayur manis to stir-fried with egg in a light sauce and topped with savoury deep-fried whitebait. The fully-cooked vegetable has its inherent sweetness, added with mild saltiness from the fried whitebait, to give a mellow flavour favoured by many locals.
One more thing, the rice that goes with the dishes are lightly flavoured, similar to the rice that goes with steamed chicken.
Okid Barbecue House's cooked dishes have great flavours without being too salty and their roasted delights are delicious. Best of all, their prices are very affordable.
