Lord Stow’s Bakery (澳门安德鲁饼店) is well-known in Macau and recommended by the Michelin Guide for Macau for its original Portuguese egg tarts (pastéis de nata). The bakery has several outlets in Macau with presence in Hong Kong and The Philippines too.

The original store of Lord Stow’s Bakery is located at the roundabout of Vila de Coloane / Coloane Village — very near the two bus-stops for arriving / leaving the village. Unlike its modern branches, the original store is rustic-looking and has retained its old storefront and wooden furniture and sells freshly-baked confections only.

Behind the old bakery are its two cafes: a rustic-looking cafe by the name "Lord Stow's Cafe" and a newer, modern-looking "Lord Stow's Garden Cafe" in a blue-white Portuguese-Chinese structure. The two cafes have slightly different menus, but serve similar baked confections and coffee / tea.

The freshly-baked Portuguese Egg Tarts (葡式蛋挞) is slightly smaller in size and has a burnt custard top — a trait of Portuguese-style egg tarts — in layered pastry crust. The crust is flaky and the baked custard is smooth, rich and creamy with just-nice sweetness. This is definitely a must-try.

The Angel Cake with Orange (天使橙皮蛋糕) is light, soft and carries subtle flavours of orange peel and lemon. It is not heavy and suitable to munch on at any time of the day.

Lord Stow's Bakery uses no preservatives, thus, it is best to consume the confections within the same day. And I will want to indulge in one of its cafes on the next visit.
